EXPLORE AYURVEDA

Ayurveda means (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge) the science or knowledge of life. Ayurveda enables you to know yourself better, internally and externally. It helps you understand who you are and who you can be. It provides guidelines on ideal daily and seasonal routines, diet, behavior and the proper use of our senses. Ayurveda reminds us that health is the balanced and dynamic integration between our environment, body, mind, and spirit.

Ayurveda identifies five elements of nature- earth, water, fire, air, and ether (space). They are the biological energies present in our bodies. A mix of these elements leads to various Doshas or body types;

A balanced Vata body type is usually a small built, thin person who is lively and creative, but too much movement in the system can make them anxious, lead to insomnia, dry skin, constipation, and with difficulty in focusing. The influence of the Air element causes their energy, mood, and appetite to fluctuate dramatically.

People with a balanced Pitta Dosha is usually medium built. The presence of the Fire element makes them warm, friendly, disciplined, a good leader and speaker. When out of balance, they tend to be compulsive and irritable and may suffer from indigestion or an inflammatory condition.

When Kapha is balanced, a person is sweet, supportive, and stable. Kapha types have strong frames and are athletic. When Kapha is out of balance, they may experience sluggishness, weight gain, and sinus congestion.

It is essential to know your body type to understand what works for you and doesn’t. It is the first step to unearthing your true potential.

We, at Upakarma Ayurveda, use this understanding to develop products that will suit your Dosha to help you improve your body internally and externally.
